SERVICE ANIMALS AWARENESS DAY
JUNE 16, 2007

WHEREAS, Dog guides and service animals, enhance lives by performing tasks that their owners would otherwise be unable to accomplish; and WHEREAS Dog Guides and service animals are specially raised and trained by dedicated individuals known as puppy raisers; and WHEREAS, Dog guides and service animals are not pets, but are specially bred, raised, and trained animals who may accompany their owners in any activity; and
WHEREAS, Interference with dog guides and service animals, pose direct and serious dangers to the lives of service animal users; WHEREAS, June 16, 2007, marks the second anniversary of legislation signed into law providing increased protection for service animals; Now, Therefore, I, John H. Lynch, Governor of the State of New Hampshire, do hereby proclaim June 16,2007 as Service Animals Awareness Day in New Hampshire. read more...
