SERVICE ANIMAL AWARENESS DAY 2007

On Thursday, June 14th, more than 20 people and
14 service dogs and puppies in training gathered in the Council
Chambers at the State House for the presentation of the second
anniversary of Service Animal Awareness Day. As we waited for
Governor Lynch, the group impressed other visitors by the dogs’
excellent demeanor and several members of the Group were approached
by legislators and members of the public and were able to tell
them about our group and its purpose. We really made a statement
in a big way!!
We presented Governor Lynch with a DGUNH had and he wore it a
picture! Following the ceremony, many people went across the street
to the Barley House. The staff had put together several tables
so that we could sit together as a group and we all had a good
time.
Carole Holmes said in an email after the event. “All the
Dog Guides and puppies were well behaved at the State House and
at the Barley house.. That makes a big positive statement too!”
